  Day to Day Itinerary  
 


Day 01: Arrive Paro.
Fly to Paro. On a clear day, as the flight approaches Bhutan, you will be able to see wonderful views of the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival, after completing customs and immigration formalities, you will be received by the Guide and driver and transferred to your hotel (Pelri Cottages). At Afternoon there will be free time to stroll around Paro town.  Overnight stay at Pelri Cottages.

Day 02: Paro valley: Excursion to Taktsang monastery                                               
Today we visit the Paro valley, site of the famous Tiger's Nest, the Taktsang Monastery where the legendary Guru Padmasambhava is believed to have flown from Tibet on the back of a tiger to defeat the demons who were opposing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan. The walk is long, and can be steep in places, but the views are stunning. After lunch at the cafeteria, return to Paro. Overnight Pelri Cottages.

Day 03: Trek to Shana                                                                                                       
Drive to Drugyel Dzong, at the end of the valley. Trek begins from this place, it goes upstream of Paro river, through villages, gradually ascending to 2,580m at Shana camp. (Walking time: 5/6 hours).

Day 04: Shana to Soi Thangthangkha                                                                                 
The trail again follows Pa Chu (Paro river), ascending and descending through pine, oak and spruce forests. Hot lunch will be served after crossing the bridge towards the left side of the river. After lunch follow the river climbing up through rhododendron forests and finally crossing the bridge again, reaching to the camp site at the altitude of 3,750m. (Walking time: 9/10 hours)

Day 05: Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang                                                                       
The path ascends for a while till you reach the army camp. Then follow the river above the tree line enjoying the stunning view of the surrounding peaks. Hot lunch will be served inside a yakherder’s camp. A short walk into the valley will take you to the camp at Jangothang at an altitude of 4,040m. From here the view of Mount Chomalhari and Jichu Drake are superb.

Day 06: Jangothang – Halt & Excursions                                                                         
Trek to Tshophu (lake) for fishing (bring your own fishing gear), from here you can see the aerial view of summits all around and herds of blue sheep. One can spend a day hiking in one of three directions; Mount Chomolhari and its subsidiaries lie directly west, Jichu Drake to the north and Tsherimgang and other unknown summits and ridges to the east.

Day 07: Jangothang to Lingshi                                                                                            
The trail follows the stream for half an hour and crosses the bridge to the right side. Start the climb upto the first ridge with a breathtaking view of Chomalhari, Jichu Drake and Tsrim Khang. Then walk towards the valley, almost flat for a while, until the climb to the Nyele La pass at an altitude of 4,700m. After the pass it is a gradual descend to the Lingshi camp, enjoying the panoramic view of the peaks and the Lingshi Dzong. Camp at the altitude of 400m. (Walking time: 7/8 hours.)

Day 08: Lingshi to Shodu                                                                                                   
The path follows the stream up towards the valley opposite the Dzong, gradually ascending through the valley for about four hours until the stiff climb at the pass. After the pass it is a long and gradual descend to the Shodu camp at an altitude of 3750m. (Walking time: 9/10 hours)

Day 09: Shodu to Barshong                                                                                                 
At this place, one comes back to the treeline. The path follows Thimphu River, descending through rhododendron, juniper and other alpine forests. The view of the cliff facing rocks and waterfall is stunning. Hot lunch will be served by the river side. After lunch the trail gradually ascends to the ruins of Barshong Dzong, reaching the camp at the altitude of 3.600m. (Walking time: 6/7 hours)

Day 10: Barshong to Dolamkencho                                                                                   
The route descends through alpine forests and once again join Thimphu river for a while. After lunch climb up to Dolamkencho camp at the altitude of 3,600m. (Walking time 5/6 hours)

Day 11: Dolamkencho to Dodena/Thimphu                                                                       
The path descends through bamboo forests all the way to Dolamkencho, finally joining Thimphu river again. Arrive at Dodena where you will be picked up by Wind Horse transport and transferred to Thimphu. Overnight at Hotel Wangchuk.

Day 12: Thimphu sightseeing
There are a good many things to see in the capital which has a very relaxed, laid-back feel about it. Thimphu is relatively small having a population of approximately 45,000 people and the streets are wide and tree lined.  You will almost certainly visit the Late King's Memorial Chorten, the National Library, Drubthob Nunnery, Folk Heritage Museum, the handmade paper factory, the school of arts and crafts where young students learn the traditional arts and crafts (Zo Rig Chusum – the thirteen crafts), Gold and the Silver Smiths workshop, Zangtopelri Lhakhang, and the Handicraft Emporium and the local handicraft centers to see the weavers at work and also  varieties of  textiles, thangkha paintings, masks, jewellery etc. Overnight at Hotel Wangchuk.

Day 13: Drive to Paro, sightseeing
Today we drive along the winding mountain road to Paro. Afternoon, tour of Bhutan's national museum, a fascinating place housed in an old watchtower above the huge Paro Dzong (monastery/fortress).  The museum holds a fantastic collection of Bhutanese national treasures ranging from ancient armour to textiles and thangkha paintings.
Then, we drive to the head of the valley and visit Drukgyel Dzong built in a location that was chosen for its control over the route to Tibet. A spectacular view of Mount. Jumolhari (23,996ft /7314m) can be seen from here. Also visit Rinpung Dzong and a typical Bhutanese farm house. Overnight at Pelri Cottage.

Day 14: Paro, sightseeing Tour O/n at Hotel.

Day 15: Depart Paro
Transfer to the airport for departure by flight.
