Helambu Trek is a fairly popular trek because it is close to Kathmandu. It can be done in a week, and since it is below 3500m it can be done in the winter. The highest altitude is at 3490m. The trek makes a circle through the Sherpa Helambu that is northeast of Kathmandu. The area is populated by the friendly and helpful Sherpa people. It does not have good views, as the Annapurna or Everest treks, but it is a good cultural experience. There are many teahouses along the route, so you do not need to bring a tent or food, but it is suggested to have a sleeping bag. Trek Duration: 8 days Best Season: Autumn (Sep-Dec) and Spring (Feb-May) Starting from: Sundarijal (40 minutes drive by car) Ending at : Melamchi PulBazar (4 hour drive by to Kathmandu) Grade: Moderate Highest access of the trek: Tharepati 3510metres Average Temperature: 0 to 18 Celsius Culture: esp. Tamang, Newar, Brahman and Chhetri. Mode of the trek: Tea house trek only Himalayan sights: Himalayan ranges Ganesh Himal, Langtang-Ri, Dorjelakpa, Dokpu Peak, Yala Peak, Naya kang and Gaurishankar. Most attraction of the trek: Touristy & non Touristy route specially mixed life.
