Muktinath (3802m.) is a sacred pilgrimage site where both Hindus and Buddhists worship. Muktinath has been a pilgrimage site since 330 BC. It has a natural spring and a flame of natural gas that seems to burn on water. The primordial guardian of the region was the sacred mountain Dhaulagiri and its snowy white bulk dominates much of the trek. The Gandaki Gorge is considered the deepest in the world. Jomsom (2713 m.) is the main headquarters of Mustang district. This short trek immediately north of Pokhara is an ideal trek with a diversity of culture and beautiful panoramic views of the Himalaya. Passing through picturesque villages, monasteries, Chorten, prayer flags and Mani walls, one gets to encounter Sherpa culture at its primitive best. Trek Duration: 12days Best Season: Autumn (Sep-Dec) and Spring (Mar-May) Starting from: Jomsom (35minutes by Air) Ending at: Phedi (1 hour drive by to Pokhara) Grade: Adventurous and moderate Highest access of the trek: Muktinath Temple 3800metres Average Temperature: 0 to 18 Celsius Culture: Specially Gurung, Brahman, Chhetri, Thakali and Tamang. Day 01. Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus and transfer to Hotel. Day 02. Pokhara to Jomsom by flight and trek to Kagabeni over night at tea House. Day 03. Kagabeni to Muktinath (3800m.) and stay over night at tea House . Day 04. Muktinath to Jomsom about 5 hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 05. Jomsom to Tukuche about 5 hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 06. Tukuche to Ghasa about 5hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 07. Ghasa to Tatopani about 5hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 08. Tatopani to Ghorepani about 7hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 09. Hike from Ghorepani to poonhill and watch the sunrise and back to hotel and trek to Tadapani about 4 hrs and stay over night at tea House. Day 10. Tadapani to Jhinodanda about 5hrs and stay over night. Day 11. Jhinodanda to Dhumpus about 6hrs and stay over night. Day 12. Dhumpus to Phedi about 3 hrs and drive to Pokhara about 1hrs and transfer to hotel.
