KATHMANDU:Thai Airways International is looking into possibilities to operate beyond Kathmandu to connect popular destinations like Lhasa and Middle-East. Th ai Airways fficials said at a programme held here today to mark the 41st anniversary of the airline’s operation in Nepal.
“Many other international airlines have joined the sky race after Nepal adopted liberal air service policy. As such, we are seriously considering the demand prospects of Nepali civil aviation, “they said.
The airways has also promised to support “Nepal Tourism Year 2011” campaign by introducing attractive packages and offers.
Thai Airways was the first commercial airline to operate with SE210 Caravelle aircraft between Bangkok and Kathmandu. In 1968, it started once a week flight between Bangkok and Kathmandu and soon after one more flight was added. Thereafter, five flights a week to were scheduled to cope with the growing number of passengers.
The airlines currently operates nine flights a week. Aside from existing service it is planning to resume one more additional flight with the modern Boeing 777-200 with configuration of 30 Business Class and 279 economy class.
