Alpine Air to start regional flights by third week of Jan

KATHMANDU: Alpine Air Pvt Ltd, a Nepali international airlines, is operating flights from the third week of coming January.
This airlines is starting its regional flights from Kathmandu-New Delhi-Kathmandu route by Airbus 319-100, said managing director Surendra Malla.
Alpine Air has an investment of $11 million and has leased two Airbuses from Bahrain Air. “We are starting operation with one aircraft and will add one more aircraft in 2010,” said Malla. According to Malla, the airlines has a sufficiently wide network to compete in this competitive market. Alpine Air will definitely establish itself in the market, he added.
As per the plan, the airlines will start flights to Kuala Lumpur in April 2010 followed by flights to Guangzhou in Chan and Doha in Qatar. “These are the prospective markets we have explored,” he said, “Flight operation on the eve of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 can be an advantage.”
Alpine Air’s Airbus 319-100 has 132 seats — 12 business class seats and 120 economy class seats — suitable for regional flights. The company has not fixed the fare for Kathmandu-New Delhi-Kathmandu flight yet. It is a full service carrier and the fare will be competitive, said Malla.
