In what is seen as a breakthrough, 15,000 copies of ‘Himalayas Nepal’ magazine will be available from 1,600 stores of WH Smith across UK, from Thursday. WH Smith is one of the biggest book & stationary stores in the UK.

“This is a historic day for entire Nepal tourism industry,” said Raja Ram Giri, editor of the Himalayas Nepal publications while launching the 15th edition of the magazine amidst a function in London on Wednesday. Himalayas Nepal is the first and only Nepali tourism magazine being published quarterly in UK since 1998.
“Besides our partnership with WH Smith from 15 issue onwards, Himalayas Nepal will feature neighbouring Bhutan, Tibet, Sikkim and Darjeeling regularly to provide readers information not only on Nepal but on the whole region and promote Kathmandu as a regional hub and gateway to the Himalayas”, said Giri.
“This is a laudable initiative taken by the publishers, the magazine being available in WH Smith means it will help millions of British citizens to know Nepal and her tourism prospects,” said Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise, Nepali ambassador to the United Kingdom, and chief guest at the program. He also appreciated the role played by the magazine and Mr Giri in promoting Nepal in the UK for the last several years. He also expressed hope that the magazine will help Nepal Tourism Year 2011 campaign in many ways.
