KATHMANDU: The tourism entrepreneurs and employees of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) held a rally, demanding the government not impede in the procurement process of an aircraft for the national flag-carrier, in the capital on Thursday.
The rally originated from Lainchaur and reached the Prime Ministers’ official residence, Baluwatar after which it converged into a gathering.
At the gathering, tourism entrepreneur Suman Pandey said the aim of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 will not be fulfilled if the process of procuring aircraft initiated by the NAC was thwarted.
Chairman of NAC employees’ association, Tarini Raj Dahal said though the NAC had made a bold decision to purchase Airbus-320 and Airbus-330 in order to make the Nepal Tourism Year-2011 campaign successful, some elements were hatching machination to foil this step.
Also speaking on the occasion was former chairman of Nepal Medical Association, Dr Kedar Narsing KC.
Meanwhile, a delegation of tourism entrepreneurs submitted a memorandum to the Office of the Prime Minister regarding this topic today.
