KATHMANDU: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has urged the government to accord special treatment to tourism sector in due deference to its contribution to the economy.
In a meeting with Tourism Minister Khadag Bahadur Bishwakarma here today, a delegation of HAN led by its president Prasidda Bahadur Pande suggested five-points to make Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 a grand success.
The government should develop short-term and long-term plans for the development of Rs 150 billion Nepali tourism industry, they said, adding that they are going to organise five innovative programmes including organising Mini International Film Award and conference of International Hotel and Restaurant Association for the promotion of NTY 2011.
They also urged the minister to uphold the decision of Casino in NTY 2011 and stop strike, blockade and protest throughout the year.
