Air Sahara, a leading private sector Indian airline company which started operating between Kathmandu and Delhi in September last year, has suspended flights until 14 March.
The reason behind the move is apparently fleet shortage.
Though some Nepali newspapers have reported that the airline has taken the decision due to the security situation here and the lack of tourists, that does not seem to be the case as all other flights to Delhi are full.
Quoting Air Sahara officials, some Indian newspapers, too, have reported that the reason behind the suspension of flights is scarcity of aircraft and crew. However, despite repeated attempts, Air Sahara officials were not available for comment.
Air Sahara, one of the fastest growing airlines in India, had been using its Boeing 737 for Kathmandu-Delhi-Kathmandu flights at the cheapest rate among the Indian airlines operating in Nepal. With Air Sahara suspending its flights to Nepal, there are two Indian airlines currently operating in Nepal.
