Mani Rimdu Festival Trek 2024 name is derived from Mani Rimdu Festival. Mani Rimdu is the most vibrant Sherpa Buddhist festival. Importantly, it is celebrated on 15th, 16th & 17th October 2024 in the Tengboche Monastery of Solukhumbu District of Nepal. It is a 19-day/24 hour ceremony featured by the preparation of a colorful sand mandala and various forms of mask dances performed by the monks and holy worships. The festival starts from the 1st day of the 10th month of Tibetan lunar calendar every year and its first 3 days are the most happening moments.

The meaning of ‘Mani Rimdu’ is that ‘Mani’ means “part of the chant of Chenrenzi” (Avaloketeshwar) and ‘Rimdu’ means the small red pills that are blessed to all during the festival. It is a holy festival marking the victory of Buddhism (introduced by Guru Padmasambhava) over the ancient Bon religion or the victory of positivity over the negativity.

The actual date of the festival is announced by the Head Lama of the Tengboche Monastery in the month of March/April every year. On the last day of the festival, the Rimpoche of the monastery gives a blessing to the general people by destroying the beautifully prepared sand mandala to symbolize that ‘nothing is permanent in the universe’. For this year of 2024, the final date of Mani Rimdu Festival has been announced. It is going to take place from the 15th to 17th October 2024. However, the first 3 days of festival are the most happening days. So, these three days are the never-to-miss ones. Mani Rimdu takes place in Tyangboche Monastary.

Actually, Mani Rimdu Festival that takes place in Tengboche Monastery has always been a major attraction for the visitors who come to visit Mt Everestarea by trekking. Hundreds of trekkers attend Mani Rimdu Festival every year and enjoy best out of their trek.
