About Trip

The Tsum Valley is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in northern Gorkha district of Nepal. Tsum derived from the Tibetan word "Tsombo" which means vivid. The trail heads up the valley of the Budi Gandaki River through wild and unexplored country inhabited mainly by members of the Gurung ethnic groups. Good cup of the local cultivated natural coffee and Tatopani hot springs will help you to relax on this intensive trial. Tsum Valley was a restricted area until 2007. It was opened for Trekking since 2008 by Nepal Government.

Upper Tsum valley (part of the Inner Himalaya) is open from Chhokangparo, where hospitable local people (Tibetan group "Tsombo") welcome you with traditional Tibetan Chiya (butter tea) and local meal. The Tsum Valley is extremely rich in cultural assets. The valley is dotted with gompas (Buddhist monasteries), chortens and mani walls. The longest mani walls (over 250m) are at Dzong and Phurpe. The valley preserves steps of the great Buddhist Yogi Chyuchin Milarepa and story about Guru Padmasambhava circumbulation. The people here never slaughter animals, even as sacrifice to the gods. The Tsum Valley is surrounded by the Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south, and Sringi Himal to the North

The Tsum Valley has long history of Buddhism. The Buddhist saint Milarewa is believed to be meditated in the caves of these mountains. Traditionally, the valley was a culturally distinct geographical called “Tsum Tso Chuksum”, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. The ancient remains of the Tsum Kingdom are still visible today. Due to its remoteness and inaccessibility, this sacred valley and its people have been bypassed by mainstream development for centuries. As a result, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact.

The valley is uniquely rich in wildlife, especially the Himalayan Thar and Blue Sheep which congregates in herds of 50 to 200. Hunting, fishing is not permitted in the Tsum Valley. The valley also boasts some unique and historic monasteries, including Rachen Gumba and Mu Gumba, which lie on a pretty plateau nestled in the lap of the valley, and Gumba Lungdang, situated at the base of a conical hill against the main slope of Ganesh Himal. There are 3 valleys in this Tsum Valley and Manasalu circuit Trek,  which are Tsum Valley, Numbri valley and Marshangdi Valley.

Manaslu trekking is considered as Classical Trekking in Nepal. Manasalu Region is in-between Popular Trekking Region Annapurna and Langtang Region. Manaslu Trek name has been set by Mt. Manaslu 8163m. Mt. Manalsu is the eight highest Mountains in the world. Manaslu Round Trek is a challenging and fascinating trip with great Himalayan view. The wilderness trekking trail of Manaslu is not crowded with individual trekkers at all. Exploring the highland villages of Nepal thrills a trekker to cross over a Larkya La pass which is the tough part of this trek. Manaslu – meaning the “mountain of soul”, is one of the imminent geographical charismas dominating the historical kingdom of Gorkha. A conical shaped snow capped mountain of height 8,163m above the sea level is the major attraction of this trekking package. Locally Manaslu is known as Pungen Ri whose embodiment is worshiped in a Gompa couple of hundred meter above the village of Sama Goan.

Round Manaslu trek is offers rich culture, adventure, scenic beauty and rudimental rural civilization that represents ancient Tibetan lifestyle. Due to the newly opened route, this trek encircling the entire Manaslu massif, offers a chance to comprehensively explore the full range of Nepal’s natural and cultural diversity. Trekking starts from historical city Gorkha, we head up towards the Mt. Manaslu the trail reveals unexplored country inhabited by Gurung's. During this Manaslu round trek, the trail eventually circumvents Mt. Manaslu crossing Larkya Pass (5,135m) and comes down to classical route of Annapurna. If you still want more, you can continue trekking Around Annapurna crossing another arduous pass of Throng La (5,416m) otherwise you will come back to Kathmandu.
