Tiji Festival is auspicious celebrated in Upper Mustang every year on month of May. Tiji Festival is celebrated to score the victory of Good to iniquity. The Tiji Festival performance is held on May 05th, 06th & 07th 2024 this year at Chhode Monastery in Lo-manthang.Lo-Manthang is the headquarter of Upper Mustang. Thousands of people gather from different part of the world to watch Tiji festival. Tiji festival  is the biggest festival of the Upper Mustang. Upper Mustang is an ancient Himalayan Kingdom which lies in the northern central part of Nepal and at the top of the Kaligandaki River. Upper Mustang consists of two distinct regions: the southern part and the northern where the languages, culture and traditions are alike to those of the Tibetan people. This area is consider as one of the most interesting and picturesque places in Nepal. The whole area has an isolated and mystical feel to it, enchanting and inspiring visitors to this region.
The trek toLo- Manthang is through high altitude desert country climbing in and out of the huge sided valley of the Kali Gandaki. In places the gorge which the Kali Gandaki River runs through is the deepest in the world. This region is full of some of Nepal's oldest Buddhist Monasteries, ancient and isolated villages with quaint white washed houses. BOUDHANATH STUPA : lies about 6 km east of downtown Kathmandu and is the largest stupa in the Valley and one of the largest in the world. It looms 36 meters high and presents one of the most fascinating specimens of stupa design with hundreds of prayer wheels and 108 small images of Buddha all around. Just like the Swayambhunath, the stupa here is too has four sides with the watchful eyes of Lord Buddha. All the Buddhist throng to this stupa to take part in the sacred rituals during the Buddhist festivals. The area of the stupa boasts of more than 35 gompas and is easily accessible by being a short walking distance from Pashupatinath and a little north to the airport. The Losar, the Tibetan New Year Day coming around in the months of February or March, is grandly celebrated as the biggest festival here. Therefore, a massive crowd of tourists can be seen swarming the place during such days.

PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE: One of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world, Pashupatinath lies 5 km east from the city center. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga, or phallic symbol, of Lord Shiva as well as the noteworthy gold plated roofs and silver coated doors. This is the abode of God Shiva and is the holiest of all the Shiva shrines.Religious pilgrims and sadhus, like the one pictured here, travel all the way from the remote areas of India to visit this sacred sight, especially during Shivaratri (the night of Shiva) that falls between February/March. Even though these devotees have denounced worldly possessions, each carries a Sadhu ID (identifications card) to freely cross over the border between India and Nepal.Chronicles indicate Pashupatinath’s existence prior to 400 AD. Devotees can be seen taking ritual dips in the holy Bagmati river flowing beside the temple, also a World Heritage Site

6:30 am flight from Pokhara to Jomsom (15 Min Flight), breakfast at Jomsom and Comencing trek to Kagbeni (3.5 hrs easy walking) Overnight stay.

Early breakfast at Tea House in Kagbeni and start trek to Chele (3050M). (We enter in restricted area from this day) (5-6 hrs, almost easy walking following kaligandaki River) , Overnight Stay.

The climb from Chele is up a steep spur to a cairn at 3130m. Here there is a view of the village of Gyagar across a huge canyon. You will see some Chortens on a ridge, then descends further on a pleasant trail to Samar (3290m). The Annapurna Himal, still dominated by Nilgiri, is visible far to the south. Shyangmochen is the lunch place for today. The trail climbs gently from Shyangmochen to a pass at 3770m & enters another huge east-west valley. There is a trail junction, take the right fork and descend to Geling with its extensive fields of barley at 3600m

LO MANTHANG The trail descend about 100m from Charang crosses the Charang Chu and climbs steeply up a rocky trail to cairn on a ridge opposite the valley at 3580m, then enter the Tholung valley. The trails turn north and climb gently as the valley climbs to a large isolated chorten that marks the boundary between Charang and Lo. Still climbing, the trail crosses a stream, and then becomes a grand wide through fare traveling across a desert like landscape painted in every hue of gray and yellow. Cross a stream, then climb up onto the plateau of Lo Manthang. In Lo Manthang the Raja´s palace is an imposing 4-story building in the center of the city. It is the home of the present Raja, Jigme Parbal Bista and the queen who is from an aristocratic family of Lhasa. The Raja is an active horse men and keeps a stable of the best horses in Lo. He also breeds Lhasa Apso dogs and several monstrous Tibetan Mastiffs that can be hear barking angrily on the second story of the palace. We enjoy the festival in the afternoon upon arrival.

There is an opportunity of vary the return route, visiting tow villages that you did not see on the trek northwards. From Lo Mangthng the trail to Charang heads south; to reach Lo Gekar, turn east along an indistict trail that passes the irrigated fields of the city. The tail to Lo Gekar is not a main trading route and the area is cirsscrossed with herders trails. The trail climbs steadily to a pass market by a cairn, offering a last glimpse of Lo Manthang. After descending to the valley floor, the route heads to the right up the centre of the valley to its head. Cross the bridge at 4070m and traverse across the heads of two more valleys to an indistinct pass. Cross the pass to some meadows and a stream. The trail then makes a long rocky descent down a ravine to a grassy valley where Lo Gekar is situated in a grove of large trees alongside a stream.Lo Gekar(which means" pure of virtue of Lo") is also known as Ghar Gompa."House Temple" because the structure is built like a house with small separate rooms. There is no village nearby, you can see Marang and below that Charang. Climb to a ridge, then across a valley to a cairn and a pass 200m above Lo Gekar. The trail descends now alongside the stone walls and fields of the extensive village, and then climbs to a ridge, It is a short descent to Ghami at 3440m. Ghami is a large village of whitewashed houses.

From Ghami, follow the direct route to the Nyi La, climbing to a cairn on a ridge and then contouring upwards to meet the trail from Charang, Continue to the pass and descend steeply into the Geling valley. Follow the trail that by passes Geling to an isolated tea house and descends gently to the three houses of Tama Gung, A steep set of switchbacks leads to a stream, thenthe trail climbs to a huge painted Chorten, The trail rejoins the Geling near the ride, just below a Chorten and the remainder of the day is on already travelled trails back to Samar.

Following a descending path you reach Chuksang by crossing a suspension bridge over Kali Gandaki. Overnight syat at Chhuksang.

Today is quite long day trek from Chhuksang to Jomsom but Trekkers will be manage it because if they camp between is more short and not interesting short walk at the end of trekking. During the trek from Chhuksang to Kagbeni (2800m) we have scenic picturesque place to stop through the sandy and windy trails. This trail follows the gentle up and more downhill with narrow alleys amongst white washed houses, fields of buckwheat, barley, wheat and apple orchards.  With beautiful walk you will reach at Kagbeni (2800m) in Lunch time and better to take a lunch then start your about 3 hours journey to Jomsom through Ekle Bhatti (2740m). It is windy at afternoon it makes little hard to walk but you are walking in flat and gentle downhill trail so journey will be fantastic. Jomsom is quite big town in Mustang region. Finally you cross the bridge at Kali Kandaki River after that level walk then reach close to Jomsom (2720m) Overnight at Teahouse / Camp
